The directions below were developed using the Google Chrome browser and the latest Adobe
Acrobat Reader.
1. To begin your diet analysis activity, visit the following website: cronometer.com and create
your free account. A verification link will be sent to the email address used to register. Once
you verify your account, you will be automatically redirected to the website and logged in.
2. Select “ADD FOOD” to enter food items. The system will allow you to enter your data
incrementally or all at one time if you are keeping a daily log.
The system has several options for entering foods when you select “ADD FOOD”. Remember,
the goal of the assignment is to give you “perspective” of your current eating habits.

3. After you have entered your data for 3 days you will need to save each of them as a PDF and so that
you can attach them to the assignment. To the left you will click each day that you want to convert to
PDF.
4. To save your Daily Nutrient Report as a PDF, follow the steps below:
• Go to the Diary tab and save each day as a PDF file.
• Using Google Chrome, select the three vertical dots icon located near the top right-hand
corner of the browser page as shown in the screen shot below and select “Print”

From the print screen, select “change” in the printer destination section and select the
option for “Save as PDF”.

Select “Save” and select the destination you would like to save your Nutrient Report to.

For each nutrient in deficiency, list at least one food source to be added to your diet to

Conclusion – Based on your findings, list at least three dietary goals you will adopt for
the remainder of the semester based on your results.
Dietary Recall Assignment
I.
Go to cronometer.com and sign up. Follow all instructions to set up your profile and you are
ready to get started! Using the Diary tab, enter your consumption data separately for each day
to create an individual nutritional analysis. You will do this for 3 days as indicated for the
class.
II.
Record the consumption of all foods, liquids (including soda, water and alcohol), candy, gum
and any other items for three 24-hour periods of a week. One 24-hour period should reflect
one’s consumption for a typical weekday and two 24-hour periods should reflect one’s
consumption of a typical weekend day. The volume of food, liquid or others need to be
included for each unit (cup, ounces, etc.).
III.
DATA COLLECTION:
a. Input all food and liquid intake, including gum, candy, alcohol, etc. for each day of your
analysis and create your nutrient report; you will have 1 report for each day.
IV.
IDENTIFICATION OF FOOD SOURCES TO MODIFY CURRENT DIETARY HABITS:
For each day of the analysis:
 Provide a copy of your Nutrition Report (again, you will have 3 reports that
includes all that you consumed in detail)
 List each of the following per day:
a. Each nutrient for which you have an excess or a deficiency
b. Following each nutrient that you have an excess, list at least one food
or food preparation technique that could be removed to reduce your
intake of this nutrient
c. Following each deficient nutrient listed, list at least one food source to
add to your diet to improve your intake of this nutrient.
V.
Conclusion:
Based on your findings, describe and explain at least three dietary goals you will
adopt.
